I’ve gone for one button that forces a download. Although I’m still unconvinced there’s one perfect solution.

iOS devices don’t seem to save the file regardless, all links seem to open in the browser.

Open in Word doesn’t work, because it won’t necessarily.

What happens on an iOS device if you force a download? Those devices don’t give users access to the file system.

Of your choices, I prefer the second; in the first, Save and Download seem synonymous.

It’s wordier, but to be completely clear you could label the buttons “Download to desktop” and “Open in Word”.

I will just one web browser for facebook ONLY and another for all other stuff so, I’ll use safari for facebook and nothing else and all other web stuff on chrome.

So all they will see from safari is that I’m on facebook )))

Geir: The plugin is using the appropriate action hooks to purge caches when comments are posted, edited or deleted.

Gregg: A single hostname pattern is configurable in the Varnish Admin page. You can alter this to catch all your hosts, or leave blank to purge only by URL path.

Okay.. I’m seriously wanting to ensure my privacy. Not that I have anything bad going on, I just very much dislike this invasion – plus, on facebook today I was just notified of news articles my friends had read. I had thought I was so smart to disable third party tracking cookies… tsk tsk… thank you for the article! it was eye opening.
So surfing in Chrome’s incognito will ensure that my cookies aren’t tracked by Facebook?
What other things can I do to ensure that no cookies are tracked?
